Our Story
Piglet&Chestnut began in 2021, when making a dreamcatcher for my son Chester sparked a love of macramé and helped me rediscover my creativity after a difficult year. What started as a small hobby soon grew into a family business creating colourful craft kits, handmade décor and personalised gifts from our home in Norfolk.
Where It All Began
In April 2021, Chester asked me to make him a dreamcatcher to help with his bad dreams. This is what I came up with! My very first dabble into knotting and macrame.
Learning to Macrame
I'd sit up late each evening when the children were in bed, learning different knots. It was the perfect distraction from my own mind. I became completely hooked on Macrame.
Finding My Creativity Again
Next came the plant hangers (there were oh so many), we had yarn deliveries most days. The house was filling up fast, so I decided to tentatively reopen an old Etsy store I'd never done anything with.
And Along Came The Rainbows
My first ever macrame rainbows! I was so proud of these, I've come a long way since, but these hold a special place in my heart. These humble little rainbows are what kickstarted Piglet&Chestnut.
Hobby To Business
After the macrame rainbows, things changed very quickly for Piglet&Chestnut. I could barely keep up with sales on Etsy, I was accepted onto Not On The High Street (dream come true!) and I made my first big investment - a camera!
John Lewis & Beyond
From online selling only to pop up shops and workshops in John Lewis! A real pinch-me moment, and it only fuelled my fire.
Piglet&Chestnut Gets Its Own Shop
From the outside it probably looked like P&C was only going from strength to strength, we finally had our own physical shop in the busiest local shopping centre! But this was almost the end for Piglet&Chestnut. It became the biggest uphill battle in every sense.
And So Began Amazon
After the demanding hours at the shop, I decided to close up in January 2024 and instead focus my efforts back into ecommerce, including Amazon!
Life & Its Curveballs
Life had the best curveball for us in 2024 and we were blessed with our double rainbow baby. I was riddled with sickness and complications throughout, it meant P&C had to take somewhat a backseat, but not for long.
Piglet&Chestnut Today
P&C looks different to how I had envisioned it 5 years ago, it's grown and evolved with me. It's definitely not followed the traditional path a business may take, but it's formed an important part of our lives. As of today, we have sent out orders to over 50 countries! And we have had our creations featured in national publications such as Prima, Homestyle, Your Home and so many more.
